Asics GEL-KAYANO 23 Women's Running Shoe

Run Long. Run Light. Run. The new Asics Gel-Kayano 23 Running Shoes are here, and the updates utilise many innovative technologies to deliver a running shoe ideal for the overpronator requiring high levels of cushioning and comfort. The Kayano is a legendary, top of the range shoe that provides excellent durability, comfort and style. Asics have revamped the midsole with FlyteFoam® Technology, 2 layered SuperSpEVA and Fibre Reinforcements within the midsole to improve on the Kayano 22's performance and cushioning, at an even lighter weight!

FluidFit Upper

The GEL-Kayano 23's upper incorporates Asics' FluidFit technology. FluidFit combines technical mesh with additional highly functioning materials permitting an extremely pliable upper, which stretches to provide a truly personalised glove-like fit. The mesh allows hot air to diffuse out of the shoe, and cool air to permeate the membrane and travel into the shoe, which helps to create a pleasant internal environment for the wearer. A ComforDry X-40 Sockliner also features and provides moisture wicking qualities, as well as plush cushioning, to ensure that your feet remain cool, dry and comfortable throughout your training.

The GEL-Kayano 23's upper provides outstanding comfort, yet it also offers superior support. The upper is wrapped with synthetic overlays which provide added support and maintain the shoes' shape. Further support is offered by the Heel Clutching System - an exoskeletal heel counter. The heel counter provides heel support and an improved, snug fit for the wearer. Through its snug fit, the heel counter helps to minimise the energy lost during the gait cycle by hugging your heel and preventing it slipping within the shoe. Additional support is provided by the intelligently designed eyelets which disperse lace tension, creating a personalised, supportive structure which you can tailor to meet your preferences. The upper is completed by reflective elements manufactured by the company 3M, which help you to remain visible during low-light runs.

Redesigned Midsole

Asics have revamped the midsole of the of the GEL-Kayano 22 to provide vast improvements for the 23rd edition of the Kayano series. Asics's new FlyteFoam technology has been incorporated into the midsole. FlyteFoam provides improved cushioning to ensure that you have a comfortable run. FlyteFoam® also provides improved bounce, which helps to minimise the energy lost during the phases of the gait cycle, and consequently reduces muscle fatigue to enable you to perform at your highest level for longer. FlyteFoam's exceptional properties also come at a lightweight: FlyteFoam is a huge 55% lighter than the industry standard midsole foam.

The GEL-Kayano 23's midsole also includes new Fibre Reinforcements, which help the midsole to regain its shape after impacts, which consequently extends the shoes' lifespan. The final new edition to the midsole is a two-layered SuperSpEVA springy midsole, which adds further bounce to your run, as well as cushioning. SuperSpEVA also increases the midsole's durability, thereby ensuring that your shoes can run with you for longer. Forefoot and rearfoot GEL units placed close to your feet replicate your feet's natural tissues to help to dissipate shock and cushion impacts. The GEL units result in a more cushioned, comfortable ride with reduced stress on the wearer's joints.

As a shoe designed specifically for overpronators, the GEL-Kayano 23's midsole also features technologies to promote a neutral running stance and combat overpronation. The Guidance Line Midsole enhances gait efficiency by promoting a neutral stance through the gait cycle. Moreover, Asics' Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) links the midsole components to help enhance the foot's natural gait throughout the gait cycle. Asics' Dynamic DuoMax support system enhances stability and support at a reduced weight. The midsole is completed by Asics' Guidance Trusstic System® which also supports gait efficiency and provides midfoot structural integrity. Consequently, the midsole is both functional and comfortable, and is perfect for those who overpronate.

Asics High Abrasion Rubber(AHAR) Outsole

AHAR is strategically placed on the outsole to provide extra durability and traction in high stress areas. AHAR provides superior traction and durability, as well as added comfort and a better ride, making the GEL-Kayano 23 a highly durable shoe suitable for daily use. The pattern on the outsole provides superior multi-directional traction, so you can rest assured that you will have the optimum grip on your run, no matter what the conditions. Flex Grooves are also incorporated into the outsole's design; they provide additional flexibility to the outsole and ensure that the natural contours of your feet are accommodated whilst you transition through the gait cycle. The result is a more comfortable, natural ride.
