About Haglöfs
Haglöfs is a Swedish outdoor brand known for its durable, high-quality outdoor clothing and equipment, particularly backpacks. Founded in 1914 by Wiktor Haglöfs, in a country famous for extreme weather and an extensive landscape. Where rolling lowlands and running rivers give way to thick forests and snow-capped mountains. Where the outdoors isn’t just a far-off place, but exists in the very fabric of their culture and community. Haglöfs are committed to creating gear that will support anyone, anywhere in their own outdoor adventure—from walking through the forest to reaching the peak of a mountain.

The Haglöfs L.I.M Series
Experience more with less
Standing for ‘Less Is More’ the innovative L.I.M series from Swedish outdoor experts Haglöfs is based on the simple premise that with less weight to carry, you’ll move easier and thus experience more and go further on your adventures. Tried and tested in the harsh and unforgiving Nordic mountains, L.I.M sets out to push the limits of functional, technical, and lightweight trekking gear. Designed to deliver in any situation this versatile range grants maximum performance at minimum weight — in all conditions.

Layering in Haglöfs L.I.M
A key factor to L.I.M’s success has been its ease of use when it comes to layering. Whilst layering may be considered by many to be something of an artform, it's actually not that complicated. As with the less is more philosophy, a short amount of preparation will keep you warm and dry thus allowing for more quality time spent enjoying the outdoors.
The three main advantages for using a layering system before heading outdoors being:
ㅤ
● It moves moisture away from your skin
● It helps conserve heat
● It protects you from the elements
ㅤ
Spanning from base through to mid layers then soft and hard shells followed by insulation pieces, a layering system gives you the flexibility to adapt to both changing activity levels and weather conditions. All by simply removing or adding layers in order to keep you comfortable all day long. Whilst the act of layering garments also enables them to move over each other easily so that you, in turn, can move freely without any chafing.

The Haglöfs L.I.M ZT II Collection:
It's all about Exploration
Combining the art of layering with L.I.M’s award-winning designs, the new L.I.M ZT II collection represents the very zenith of Haglöfs’ expertise in performance and protection. A synchronized layering system of body-mapped layers that work together in order to provide comfort and agility. Allowing you to move efficiently through every zone, from the forest zone at the valley base, through the alpine zone of rocky terrain, and into the extreme conditions of the glacial zone.
ㅤ
Created for limitless pursuits, this modular collection comes as the result of years of alpine experience where every gram, seam, and detail has been tested and refined to perfection by Haglofs. Developed in conjunction with a group of elite alpinists from around the world both in controlled settings as well as unpredictable alpine environments.
ㅤ
The different zones and what to wear in them
When it comes to layering, the L.I.M ZT II collection has categorised its use of garments into three different alpine zones where the pieces interact with one another to adapt to the different challenges faced by varying terrain and climates.
ㅤ
1: Forest Zone
ㅤ
This zone covers the area that spans from the base of the mountain to the tree line, where vegetation gradually becomes sparser as the altitude rises. Characterized by relatively warmer temperatures and forested terrain this is where pieces like the L.I.M ZT II Air Base Top and Compressible cap are ideal. Both of which are constructed from Polartec Delta fabric, a highly technical material that encourages air circulation in order to avoid overheating and maintain comfort.
ㅤ
2: Alpine Zone
ㅤ
Sitting just above the treeline, this zone is where the terrain transitions into alpine meadows and rocky landscapes. This zone also extends to the snow line, where permanent snow cover begins and so temperatures can drop significantly as the altitude increases.
This is where the L.I.M ZT II GTX Jacket and Flex pants come into play, the jacket being constructed from GORE C-KNIT Backer Technology which provides an exceptional level of protection from wind and rain. Whilst the Flex pants are equipped with specific waterproof areas and their stretchy functionality allows for a greater range of movement whilst negotiating or scrambling over rockier terrain.
ㅤ
3: Glacial Zone
ㅤ
Marked by permanent snow and thick ice, this is the zone where the terrain becomes most challenging, with crevasses and ice formations amongst the obstacles to contend with. Added to this is the high altitude which brings its own unique set of problems including very low temperatures, extremely high winds and thin air.
No prizes for guessing that the L.I.M ZT II Big Belay jacket is an ideal candidate for staying warm, dry and comfortable in this environment. Constructed using super warm yet remarkably light ExpeDry 850 fill power goose down the velcro adjustable cuffs and helmet compatible hood provide optimal protection against wind chill as well as snow and rain.
