A beautifully classic up and down trail run that I would totally suggest to anyone visiting Como Lake (also coming from Milan, as it’s only 40 minutes away!), goes up to the top of Monte Bisbino from Cernobbio. Tavernola’s dock is the meeting point of any Como lake trail and road runner. You can leave your car in the free parking lot and run to Cernobbio’s centre, from there follow the 1 trail signs to the hamlet of Rovenna and then up towards Bisbino. The trail is partly cobbled with the traditional Como lake stones, partly grassy or gravel, but always in good condition.

The views of the lake are just beautiful! On a clear day, you can see most of the western side of the alpine range, the lower branch of the lake and the city of Como. It takes about an hour at a comfortable pace to run up (57 minutes for me today, and I’m definitely out of shape!) and you can take into account 2h for the full adventure. There are several options, both for the climb and for the descent if you want to make it a loop.
This is my classic terrain where I usually train for mountain races as I have run these trails and roads so many times (and I think I own most Strava segments!)
