ASICS Front Runner Grace Lynch has been busy putting the ASICS GEL-KINSEI Blast Running Shoes to the test;
So, who is the ASICS GEL-KINSEI BLAST for?
In my opinion, the ASICS GEL- KINSEI BLAST is an excellent shoe for road runners who are looking for a diverse shoe that provides high responsiveness and comfort during easy runs but also can double up for faster-paced tempo running. It can also be a great option as a daily trainer.
My top priorities revolve around comfort and performance when it comes to running shoes, as this ultimately helps me train and race to my maximum capacity. The GEL-KINSEI BLAST provides just that- luxurious comfort and the latest shoe technology providing the wearer with a responsive and stable running experience.
My first experience of the The GEL-KINSEI BLAST was the day after competing in a 10K road race. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh I felt, especially towards the latter part of the run. This can be attributed to the Pebax propulsion plate. The geometry of the plate directs the energy created in forwarding momentum, and you can feel this through a smooth transition from heel to toe. I really feel like I can get into a rolling rhythm, which maintains my pace and cadence throughout the run. Additionally, the Gel technology in the heel is quite extensive, but this aids in reducing impact. A great addition especially for those on high miles. The comfort of the shoe is further enhanced by the Flyte Foam+. The shoe feels similar in ride to the NOVABLAST 2, however, there is a much higher degree of stability which I enjoy.
One aspect I like is the tongue, as the material has great grip and sits well on the foot, providing both extra stability and a nice feel and look.
One small negative would be the weight of the shoe. Coming in at 255g for females and 310g for males, it is 30g and 35g respectively heavier when compared to the NOVABLAST 2. However, saying this, I didn’t notice the extra weight, probably due to the Pebax propulsion plate.
