It’s no surprise that Under Armour’s latest release is another futuristic looking and eye-catching design.
Aside from their unique appearance, the first thing I noticed is just how comfortable they are to wear. The upper is mostly made with an ultra-breathable engineered knit, stretching and adapting to every runner’s unique foot shape for a really custom and sock-like fit that both looks and feels incredible. This auxetic material extends to the gusseted tongue which is padded and ergonomically shaped to provide high levels of comfort and protection. Even the laces have a feel of supreme quality and the level of detail and attention that has gone into building each part of this shoe is highly commendable.
At the back of the shoe, there is no shortage of protection and support. A thick layer of spongey material cradles the heel and provides unrivalled levels of comfort. In addition, a translucent TPU heel wrap supports around the heel for a more secure fit. This is particularly noticeable during exercise because it really helps to keep your feet locked in place and reduces lateral movement and rolling of the ankle.
Moving down to the midsole, the soft wax-based foam provides tons of cushioning and energy return, which can be appreciated with every stride. This layer of cushioned material sits in a frame of charged foam, locking it in place and creating even more stability during movement. Underfoot, a rubber compound outsole completes the construction, with ample grip for traction and durability. These underfoot technologies collectively put a real spring in your step and the high level of cushioning helps to reduce fatigue over a period of time.

The outsole of the HOVR Mega 2 Clone is very durable and built to stand the test of time. It features a textured lug pattern that provides plenty of traction, allowing you to run across a variety of hard surfaces with complete confidence.
In terms of fit and feel, it’s important to mention that the HOVR Mega 2 Clone is a narrow fitting shoe and like other shoes in the UA range, it is also small in length. I usually wear shoes between a size UK10 and UK10.5 and opted for the latter with this particular model.
Additionally, these shoes connect to MAPMYRUN for tracking and analysis of your running metrics to help you become a better runner. Check out our article which explains the benefits of using UA smart shoes with the UA MapMyRun app
In short, the UA HOVR Mega 2 Clone is a dream to wear and really helps to bring joy to your running.

How does the UA Mega 2 Clone compare to the UA Flow Velociti Wind?
I use both shoes for different purposes. The UA Flow Velociti Wind is a lightweight, minimal and high-performance racing shoe built from a single-foam compound. Its unique design allows the shoe to mould perfectly with the shape of your feet and makes running feel more natural. You also feel a closer connection with the ground and I love to wear them for speed sessions because they’re incredibly lightweight, snappy and responsive.
In comparison, the UA Mega 2 Clone has a much greater stack height and offers more cushioning underfoot. I use this as my everyday training shoe for the road, mainly because I enjoy the supreme levels of comfort and cushioning that it provides. I also love the way they wrap around my feet, as the textured upper and TPU heel wrap collectively give me more support and protection.
Both shoes form the perfect partnership and would be a great choice if you’re looking a racing and training shoe combination to suit all of your running needs.
