Raul Butaci and Courtney Dauwalter are crowned the King and Queen of the The North Face Transgrancanaria Classic Race 2024, the blue riband event, which challenges runners from around the world to traverse the island from end to end. Featuring diverse sections of dense forest and exposed volcanic rock, the 126km route includes over 6,800 vertical metres – the ultimate test of end-to-end endurance.

Butaci expertly worked his way through the field, reaching the first checkpoint in 10th and then taking control of the race in Tejeda where he assumed 1st position. From here, he didn't look back and took an impressive victory over his nearest rivals Miguel Ángel Heras and Ionel Cristian Manole, who finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The North Face also had plenty to celebrate, with athletes Jiasheng Shen (5th), Zach Miller (7th) and GB's Josh Wade (8th) all making the Top 10.

There was never any doubt as to who would win the women's race, as Courtney Dauwalter recorded yet another convincing victory to further enhance her status as the best ultra-distance athlete in the world. She finished in 13th place overall and successfully defended her female crown in this prestigious event.

After the race, she said;
"Last year I fell in love with the place and the race and I simply had to come back and join in with the party again."

No doubt she’ll be back in 2025.

Claudia Tremps and GB's Emma Stuart completed the women’s podium with two outstanding performances.

In the Advanced race, it was was more good news for The North Face, as Tara Fraga claimed victory, ahead of Kathrin Götz and Martina Klancnik. In the men’s category, Andrzej Witekwon took the win, followed by Davide Cheraz and Borja Fernández.

DAY 3 OF TRANSGRANCANARIA

Robert Pkemoi and The North Face athlete Jenn Lichter are crowned the King and Queen of the TGC trail marathon!
The two runners dominated the race from start to finish, consolidating their victory from the beginning of the race, which started in Tejeda and finished in the South Park of Maspalomas.
Completing the men's podium were Finland's Juho Ylinen and Portugal's Tiago Nobre. In the women's race, the Spanish duo Greta Garcia Moran and Rosa Maris Lara Feliu finished second and third respectively.
Also, special mention to GB athletes Kris Jones who finished 5th in the men's race and fellow Brit Meryl Cooper who took 7th place in the women's.

And huge congratulations to our very own SportsShoes athlete Josh Beaumont, who finished 61st overall in his first trail race outside the UK. Josh paced himself really well and improved his position by around 40 places after a strong second half of the race.

DAY 2 OF TRANSGRANCANARIA

Katarzyna Solinska and Antonio Martínez emerged victorious in The North Face Transgrancanaria 21K race.

The North Face athlete Brittany Charboneau and Flavia Stutz secured second and third place, respectively, while in the men’s category, Canary Islander Yoel de Paz and Anartz Artola completed the podium.

In the Promo race, covering 12K, Sasa Torkar and Alejandro Díaz took the top spots, whereas in the Youth category, Elvira Borring and Francisco Javier Tejonero were the winners.

Special mention to our very own SportsShoes athletes who all enjoyed superb results. In the 21K, Katie Brown finished in an incredible 7th place on her trail racing debut, making the transition from road to trail appear almost seamless. In the men's race, 'El Capitano' Ben Mounsey demonstrated his experience of running in the heat, perfectly pacing himself to 16th place overall and 2nd place in the V40 category.

In the 12K race, Zahra Rose impressed in her first trail race outside the UK, finishing 14th place in her category.
