ASICS Gel-Fortitude 8 Running Shoes (2E Width)
Support, comfort and durability in a 2E width. GEL-Fortitude 8 propels your run with a responsive SpevaFoam Midsole plus rearfoot and forefoot GEL Technology cushioning. Built on a Maximum Support Last, this shoe provides a deeper, wider fit that caters to neutral runners who require custom orthotics or have larger builds.
Engineered Mesh Upper
The upper part of the shoe is constructed from an engineered mesh which provides a good level of comfort and breathability, keeping the feet feeling cool and dry throughout long runs. The engineered mesh offers seamless comfort that eliminates irritation from chafing and rubbing. For additional cushioning, the shoe features a ComforDry sockliner which offers high rebound properties while providing excellent moisture management and a high level of air-flow. The Fortitude provides maximum support last which ensures more depth and width throughout the mid and forefoot of the shoe. This accommodating last is ideal for athletes with a higher volume feet or for those who wear orthotics.
GEL Cushioned Midsole
Located in the midsole is SpEVA material which is a lightweight EVA that offers high bounce-back characteristics while decreasing midsole breakdown. Included in the midsole construction of the Gel-Fortitude is Asics' Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL Cushioning System. The cushioning systems are placed within the shoe's midsole at key impact areas to work in conjunction with the midsole material to attenuate shock during impact and toe-off phases, allowing movement in multiple planes as the foot transitions through the gait cycle. Additional help comes the I.G.S technology (Impact Guidance System) which is designed to create perfect cooperation between your foot and shoe. The IGS allows the foot to perform in a more natural manner by delivering superior ride, comfort, and performance. Guidance Trusstic System technology incorporates Guidance Line grooves into the midsole for enhanced gait efficiency whilst maintaining the midfoot's structural integrity. Vertical flex groove decouples the tooling along the line of progression for improved gait efficiency.
AHAR Outsole
The outsole is developed AHAR material (Asics High Abrasion Rubber) which is placed in critical areas offering exceptional durability. The DuraSponge outsole offers a blown AHAR rubber outsole for enhanced cushioning and durability in the forefoot. The sole of the shoe is equipped with the Guidance Line which is a synthetic insert which serves as a physical separation of the midsole and outsole which decouples the tooling and helps to produce a consistent load transfer at the propulsion stage. It works by influencing a consistent load and motion from heel strike to toe-off. Integrating with the Guidance Line is the Trusstic System which is a plastic shank which channels energy to provide forward propulsion. By mirroring the functions of the foot's ligaments, it transforms the foot from a flexible structure, for shock absorption through the heel strike and mid-stance into a strong, firm lever to provide forward propulsion, helping the runner spring forward with every stride.
