DynamotionFit Upper
Constructed with a DynamotionFit system the Mizuno Wave Ultima 9 boasts a stretch mesh upper and Mizuno Flex Eyelets for a lightweight, flexible upper that moves with the foot's natural running motion. The stretch mesh delivers a contoured, breathable fit, that bends, twists, and stretches with the foot, whilst allowing cool air to permeate to remove uncomfortable heat build-up. The Flex Eyelets help to lock down the heel working with the traditional lace closure for a secure, locked-in fit. An internal heel counter reduces in shoe slippage keeping the heel locked in place during the gait cycle. Toe protection protects against bumps and grazes and increases durability against abrasions. A cushioned collar reduces chafing and rubbing for an irritation-free fit.
WAVE Midsole
A wave layer midsole uses a wavy foam structure that strikes the perfect balance between cushioning and stability. Offering cushioned comfort that midsole is also firmer in the direction of impact to ensure stability is where it is required. U4ic resides within the heel for increased cushioning that absorbs shock impact on heel strike working to reduce fatigue and reduce the risk of injury.
SMOOTHRIDE Outsole
The SMOOTHRIDE engineering boasts include forefoot and heel flex grooves that work with an AP+ midsole to create a rocking-chair effect for a smooth gait cycle. Heel flex grooves promote a natural back-to-front movement, working with the extra cushioned bounce of the AP+ midsole for an energetic push through to the forefoot. Forefoot flex grooves continue the forward motion for a smooth and powerful toe-off resulting in an efficient and fluid gait.
