FutureLight Upper
Developed to be lightweight, supportive and protective, the upper of the Ultra Swift Trail Running Shoes has been constructed using futurelight technology. Futurelight is an industry-leading advanced technology that is rigorously tested to withstand the harshest weather conditions whilst still providing enhanced breathability. The nano-spun membrane and unique laminating process take lightweight waterproof breathability to a new level; the futurelight upper works to keep your feet dry, cool and comfortable at all times by creating airflow and keeping water out. The waterproof membrane protects your feet in the harshest rainstorms and allows your feet to breathe when temperatures begin to rise. By allowing cool air to flow throughout the upper futurelight technology creates a perfect microclimate for your feet to thrive in so you can go further for longer in complete comfort. An internal arch sleeve offers customisable support whilst the gusseted tongue helps to keep debris out. Completing the upper is a lacing system which locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
Engineered Midsole
Designed to provide underfoot cushioning and comfort, the midsole of the Ultra Swift has been specifically engineered for the road. Constructed using a combination of FastFoam and XtraFoam the midsole ensures you can go further for longer in complete comfort. Xtrafoam has been used in the heel to provide lightweight cushioning and comfort. The responsive midsole system which ensures comfort and cushioning form the moment you put them on till the moment you take them off. The high rebound midsole works to inundate shocks instantly and effectively, preventing them from causing any damage to the sole of the foot. As well as this, Fastfoam has been used in the forefoot to provide responsive comfort. The lightweight foam is highly responsive and stable to ensure a comfortable and supportive ride. The dual-density midsole works to ensure stability on uneven terrain and ensures soft and durable cushioning that spares your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces. Completing the midsole is an OrthoLite Hybrid footbed which works to provide additional comfort creating a comfortable platform underfoot. The footbed also works to wick excess sweat and moisture away from the feet to reduces the risks of unpleasant sweat and odours.
EXTS Outsole System
Designed to be hardwearing and grippy the Ultra Swift FutureLight Trail Running Shoes have been developed using The North Faces signature EXTS outsole. This durable compound has been specially designed to ensure traction on both wet and dry surfaces. Not only does the outsole work exceptionally well on wet and dry terrain but it also works to ensure multi-directional traction on a wide range of surfaces. The highly durable rubber is strong enough to withstand the toughest trails yet, is flexible enough to adapt on different terrain so you can have complete control. The durable rubber provides a strong grip on the most challenging terrain; it works to protect itself from damage, and protect users from losing control and slipping. The EXTS rubber also features a zonal pattern which allows you to brake with your heel and propel with your forefoot for a more dynamic ride; this increases overall efficiency and allows you to have control over any surface. Completing the outsole are 3mm lugs which provide the optimal balance between traction and durability on the trail. The lugs dig deep into wet mud and slippery rocks to ensure added traction and control. This will also benefit you by acting as a solid base for you to push off from when taking a stride, as well as digging into the ground when braking and changing direction.
