Engineered Mesh Upper
The upper of the Gel-Excite Trail 2 has been created using a durable mesh that surrounds your foot with breathable comfort. The fabric allows cool air to flow in and out, whilst built-up heat is released keeping feet comfortable no matter how challenging your run becomes. Moisture is wicked away instantly, keeping your feet dry and the shoes at their lightweight feel. The shoes include no-sew overlays to improve support whilst reducing the overall weight. These have been combined with the durable mesh that protects your foot and the shoe from knocks and scrapes on the trail. A traditional lacing system has been added allowing you to find a secure and personalised fit guaranteeing a distraction-free run. A padded tongue and ankle collar will reduce the risk of irritation from rubbing, whilst enhancing comfort.
Amplifoam Plus Midsole
The midsole of the Gel-Excite Trail 2 contains ASICS' ground-breaking Amplifoam Plus Foam. This has been designed to work with all 33 joints in the foot and provide soft cushioning, constructed at a lower density, which protects it from breaking down. This softer midsole allows for better flexibility, comfort, and adaptability. Compared to standard Amplifoam, the foam is even lighter providing softer landings as you run, whilst improving the durability of a longer-lasting shoe. An Ortholite sockliner lies above the midsole; this is implemented to supply an extra layer of plush and hygienic underfoot comfort. This premium product features higher rebound properties but provides excellent moisture management and increased breathability; so you stay damp-free and comfortable on hot, longer-distance days. Further embedded within this platform is the Rearfoot GEL Cushioning System. This technology reduces shock during impact, sparing your joints as you sprint onto hard, unforgiving terrain and allowing for a peaceful transition to mid-stance.
Trail Specific Outsole
The shoe is finished with a trail-specific outsole created using a durable rubber which adds lightness and improves durability. The durable rubber used on the outsole is abrasion-resistant preventing any damage from occurring over a long period exposed to hard ground. The rubber compound offers higher densities in high-impact areas of the outsole where the most wear occurs throughout the miles, this helps reduce the wear and tear allowing you to run harder and for longer. Deep lugs feature on the outsole to provide optimal grip and traction on multiple surfaces.
