La Sportiva Mutant II Trail Running Shoes
Extremely stable and versatile, the Mutant II is suitable for trail and sky-race races and training over medium-long distances as well as, on technical terrain. The redesigned graphics are inspired by the topography of the Val di Fiemme.
Breathable Mesh Upper
The upper and the lining of the Mutant II are constructed from a breathable single-layer mesh, woven into an extremely durable pattern. Not only is the mesh breathable but it's also abrasion-resistant to protect the shoes from bumps, scrapes and trail debris. As your feet become warm, the mesh will allow built-up heat to escape easily replacing it with cooler air from outside the shoe. This constant cycle will keep you feeling fresh and ventilated over a long period. An integrated lacing system with FusionGate technology and high-frequency reinforcements allows volume regulation and foot adherence. Completing the uppers of the Mutant II is the SpyralTongue technology, an integrated gaiter that hugs the lower part of the ankle while keeping the cuff tight and avoiding coming into contact with external elements. This also ensures you have a quick fitting system for confident, comfortable strides across changing trail conditions.
IMEVA Midsole
The Mutant II uses an Injected Moulded EVA (IMEVA) midsole which differs from the standard compression moulded EVA midsoles for a high degree of cushioning and better elasticity of the fabric. These features assist "push off" during the propulsion phase while running, making these models ideal for off-road trails. Also, EVA-injected midsoles reduce the "squash" effect of the EVA over time, allowing the product to maintain the same characteristics and high performance for its entire duration. An Ortholite Hybrid footbed resides in the midsole to enhance underfoot comfort thanks to the anti-compression technology.
Frixion XF Outsole
The outsole of the Mutant Trail shoe is made from FriXion XF, a very sticky, versatile rubber compound that gives extreme grip while running. The outsole will offer you incredible grip and traction, especially on muddy ground, and will form a solid connection with a wide range of surfaces, giving you a strong foundation to push off from. The 6.5mm deep lugs will also dig into the ground, especially if wet. The Impact Braking System uses the lugs to offer real advantages during racing by reducing negative ground impact and giving you a firm launchpad.
