Mammut Taiss Light Mid GORE-TEX Walking Boots
Welcome to the new generation of mountaineering boots. Weighing in at just 555 grams, this is the lightest crampon-compatible mountaineering boot on the market.
GORE-TEX Upper
The upper is constructed from Microfiber Race, Schoeller, Ripstop Textile with mesh protection, including GORE-TEX to ensure the Taiss Light Mid Walking Boots are durably waterproof combined with optimised breathability offering enduring weather protection and flexibility. Water stays on the outside while perspiration can easily escape from the inside. The upper also features a 2-zone lacing system that can be adjusted to accommodate different situations depending on the environment that you are in, this is asymmetric so that it follows the anatomy of the foot all the way to the tip of the boot. Reducing pressure points on the top of the foot is the elasticated mono-tongue construction that is open only on one side. This allows your foot to slide in and the boots grip securely onto the foot even before the laces are fastened up. Finishing the upper is a Neoprene cuff gaiter that offers additional protection in snowy conditions and ensures ultimate comfort due to its soft padding.
PU Midsole
Mammut has used a PU midsole in the Taiss Walking Boots, providing you with excellent cushioning throughout. They have strategically mapped out the PU in the midsole of the boot giving you the correct amount of support throughout key areas. The layer which resides under the toe offers the sensitivity needed to keep the forefoot well protected. The Taiss uses a Contact Control system, which involves a carbon stiffening plate integrated into the midsole, which in turn reduces the weight and keeps the boot low to the ground
Vibram Litebase Rubber Outsole
The Taiss Light Mid GORE-TEX Walking Boots utilise a Vibram Litebase Rubber outsole, which is thinner and lighter than the standard Vibram outsole. With high levels of traction and stability, this Vibram outsole ensures you have an excellent grip in all weather conditions, especially on rock, ice and snow. Supplying you with the stability you need in changing circumstances and preparing you for the journey ahead. Multi-directional lugs help to improve the traction and grip on muddy and slippery terrains.
