Mesh and PU-Coated Suede Upper
The upper is made from a combination of mesh and suede for the perfect mix of durability and airflow. The mesh allows built-up heat and vapour to escape whilst fresh air can flow in to keep feet cool and with quick-drying properties keep feet dry from sweat and moisture. The PU-coated suede is placed in high-abrasion areas to protect your feet and shoes from knocks and scuffs, and perforations within the material to help prevent them from becoming stuffy. The 100% recycled bungee lace ensures the perfect fit and the stretch collar allows for easy on and off. For an eco-conscious choice, many of the components are made with recycled materials, including the 100% recycled eyestay webbing, elastic heel pull tab webbing, elastic lace keeper, and breathable mesh lining.
EVA Midsole
The midsole is made from a lightweight EVA foam which offers support and stability. It delivers cushioned comfort, attenuating shock as you strike down to protect your joints and muscles. This energy is then converted into rebound to keep you moving, allowing you to explore more of the great outdoors using less energy. Atop this, an integrated EVA foam insole provides step-in cushioning and all-day comfort. FLEXconnect dual-directional flex-grooves in the midsole enhance ground connection and stability, helping you to move with greater proprioception.
Merrell Sticky Rubber Outsole
Merrell sticky rubber is used for the outsole of the Maipo Explorer Sieve. It forms a solid bond with the ground beneath for great grip and confidence. The outsole lug pattern helps you gain purchase on varied terrain for greater traction. It also allows water to escape so you can hike the riverside without worries.
