GORE-TEX Upper
Surrounding the upper of the shoe is a breathable and durable GORE-TEX membrane that will keep you dry and comfortable. The membrane will block out all moisture. This will leave the water sitting on the surface of the shoe, where it is then wicked away to keep you feeling lightweight. Despite blocking out the moisture, this doesn't mean that air isn't able to enter and exit freely. Warm air that builds up within the shoe is easily able to escape out, where it is then replaced by cooler air from outside, and this will work constantly to keep you ventilated to a consistent level. The upper is made from an extremely durable rip-stop material, which will protect it when force is placed against it. Thick material covers vulnerable areas of the feet like the toes and heel. This will absorb shocks to prevent them from reaching your feet, whilst it will also hold you in a firm and upright healthy position. The heat sealed upper eliminates the risk of irritation being caused by rubbing and chafing, as there are no seams within. Secure lacing and a flat-lying tongue will mean that you will always be able to find a comfortable fit.
Five Density Midsole
The midsole of the Berghaus FT18 Walking Shoes looks to add comfort for the wearer. A five density EVA Footbed works towards that, providing superb underfoot cushioning, medially situated with an asymmetrical heel crash pad for a smoother transitional period through those rugged trail runs. By having such effective cushioning, this will relieve your joints, taking pressure off the knees and ankles for protection from injuries and fatigue. By attenuating shocks from below, this will also provide protection, but in this case from heavy impacts on unpredictable surfaces. The energy created when walking or from underfoot shocks is returned as rebound, which will give you an added spring in your step. An Ortholite insole will provide you with direct underfoot cushioning.
Opti-Stud Outsole
Opti-stud is engineered to match your movements and pressure contact with the ground to offer unrivalled grip on rough terrain. The opti-stud system links large studs, which are designed to take any high force impact, with smaller studs offer added support. This construction created prevents the smaller studs distorting on impact and allows the system to push into the terrain which gives the wearer excelled grip.
