Deuter Guide 34+ Backpack
The climate neutral, PFC free Guide strikes the perfect balance between light weight, comfort and functionality. Ready to take on any summit in the world, the Deuter Guide 34 Backpack is the ideal companion in the harshest of environments. Multi-functional, robust and comfortable, stay in control and in charge when faced with the most demanding of conditions.
For a combination of comfort, durability and functionality, Deuter use their developed Alpine Back System. The main functions and benefits of having this are to ensure that there is an even balance when carrying medium to heavy loads, whilst ensuring that you are comfortable and protected from injury. The energy created from the heavy bag is concentrated towards the body's centre of gravity, which helps conserve energy. Features like shoulder straps and hip fins mean you can adjust depending on terrain and load. Ergonomically cut shoulder straps create a glove-like fit. This also means that there is no rubbing against the neck or arms which would cause discomfort. Wide hip fins complete the Alpine System, as they pull the backpack closer to the body, which means that it won't ride up or bounce around.
The flexible, tensioned Delrin U-frame provides stability and a comfortable load distribution at minimum weight. This acts as a skeleton, enhancing durability and preventing damage caused by energy and impacts, as well as transferring energy evenly so there is less chance of damage being caused. To increase the volume of the bag, the lid is height adjustable, adding that extra little bit of space if required. For easy and quick access within the bag, there is a zipped side opening which makes rummaging for what you are after easier. A padded hip belt provides yet more comfort, and it is also removable which can be done easily and quickly.
Another Deuter developed technology used is the Vari Flex System. These involve the hip fins, and they allow a wider range of movement. This means that tricky manoeuvres when on the mountains can be achieved without knocking you off balance, especially whilst carrying a heavy load. A sternum strap further stabilises the bag to your back. Securely stash all your valuables in a special pocket located within the pack. There is also a place to store your used or spare clothes, in a stretch compartment on the back. There are several straps and places to attach items like skis, ice axes and hiking poles and a helmet holder.
The pack comes with an SOS label, which gives clear instructions and tips for emergency situations. There is also a removable foam sitting mat, which can be used on wet or frozen ground, keeping you dry and warm. Connectable compression straps and load adjustment straps allow you to attach any other equipment as well as adjust the bag's centre of gravity. Made using a combination of materials, this includes 600D polyester, a robust and lightweight fabric as well as Deuter's Micro Rip 6.6, a nylon that offers supreme water and tear resistance.
