Hoka Torrent 4 Trail Running Shoes
Softer, bouncier, more stable and durable - the redesigned Torrent 4 is all about that cushion, and honed for the trail. Hoka upgraded the midsole compound for a lighter, cushier ride, increasing the stack height but nestling the foot securely in an Active Foot Frame. Then they reworked the 5mm lugs for an even more aggressive bite, wrapping the high-abrasion rubber strategically up the outsole, and adding an extra plush sockliner for comfort for the long haul.
Breathable Single-Layer Mesh Upper
Designed to be lightweight and highly breathable, the Hoka Torrent 4 Trail Running Shoes feature a single-layer mesh upper that utilises 35% recycled Polyester for a more sustainable option. Constructed with one layer rather than two, this upper keeps the overall weight of the shoe down, allowing you to focus on the trail ahead without unnecessary weight holding you back. This lightweight mesh wraps the foot in breathable comfort and ensures added flexibility to provide you with a superbly comfortable fit. It allows hot air to escape easily through the layer of mesh, which is then replaced by cooler air from outside of the shoe. This means that there will be a constant cycle of cool, fresh air working to keep your feet feeling comfortable in a controlled climate. Hoka have added a lay-flat gusseted tongue, which helps to keep debris out whilst sitting comfortably against the foot to reduce the risk of rubbing. A hot melt support cage adds durability and stability that helps to keep your foot contained over uneven terrains. The moulded puff collar construction adds comfort to the fit and a webbing heel pull tab helps with putting the shoes on. Completing the upper is a lacing system that locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.
Single-Layer EVA Midsole
Featuring a new midsole foam and increased stack height, the Torrent 4 offers lightweight cushioning throughout your everyday trail runs. Not only is this midsole compound lighter than previous versions, but it also offers a responsive feel underfoot, launching you into your next step so you can fly over the trail with ease. Alongside this, a rearfoot-focused Active Foot Frame nestles the foot securely for added comfort and stability whilst an extra plush sockliner ensures soft step-in comfort for those long runs. An early-stage Meta-Rocker is applied in the midsole to increase running efficiency. The Meta-Rocker is specifically designed to create a unique fulcrum effect, like a rocking chair to encourage a guided gait cycle. This design supports a runner's natural form while promoting an efficient, smooth roll from initial impact to toe-off. A 3D printed rand delivers added structure and security.
High-Abrasion Rubber
Completing the Torrent 4 is a high-abrasion rubber outsole that has been designed with more coverage and a rearranged lug shape and orientation. The rubber compound strategically wraps areas where it is needed most to enhance durability as well as stability for more confident footing. This strategic rubber wrap protects the shoe and user from bumps, knocks and scrapes on the trail, giving you a shoe you can rely on for everyday trail use. Aggressive 5mm lugs have been designed using this high-abrasion rubber to provide you with an even more aggressive bite on the trail than before and are multi-directional for both ascents and descents.
