Merrell Rogue Hiker Women's GORE-TEX Walking Boots
Merrell's roots are on the trail with a rich history of backpacking with boots like the Wilderness. But things have changed in the last 41 years prompting them to create the new Rogue Hiker. They set out to create the world's best hiking shoe with three key elements: lightness, traction and durability. Because when carrying a heavy backpack, it's not just about stability and directional stability, but also every single gram. The market is full of robust, heavy backpacking boots, so Merrell took a unique approach to the design.
GORE-TEX Ballistic Mesh Upper
The Rogue Hiker GORE-TEX Walking Boots from Merrell are constructed using GORE-TEX technology. GORE-TEX is a fully waterproof membrane that blocks out water. It is also superbly breathable, allowing the wearer to stay dry, cool and comfortable while performing in harsh weather conditions. In addition, the upper is based on mesh and TPU enhancing ventilation and stability. The ballistic mesh allows air to fully permeate the upper providing a constant supply of fresh, cool air while simultaneously forcing out hot, muggy air. TPU aids durability and enhances structural integrity, protecting on uneven terrain. A moulded TPU heel counter locks down the foot and contributes to lateral stability while high ankle support reduces the risk of injury. Whilst still feeling like a trail running shoe, this lightweight Rogue Hiker offers full ankle support thanks to the lacing system locking the shoe in place. Other features on the upper include metal hooks and lacing eyelets that provide secure lacing, while a bellows tongue keeps debris out of the shoes.
Merrell has used the last of an athletic trail running shoe, inspired by their Agility Peak trail runner, so the Rogue Hiker wears very much like one too. This athletic last has been teamed with modern materials to reduce weight whilst increasing performance. At just 820g per pair, the Rogue Hiker by Merrell is right for those who want to go light and fast on multi-day hikes and longer backpacking adventures.
Two-Piece Midsole with ESS Plate
To provide feet with necessary support and security, the Rogue Hiker features a two-part, dual-density FloatPro Foam midsole construction with an ESS plate to allow you to conquer wet or difficult terrain. The lightweight midsole cushions the foot to keep you feeling comfortable throughout wear while the arched soleplate offers advanced protection and support on various terrains from start to finish. The ESS plate provides excellent underfoot protection. This technology protects the underfoot from sharp rocks or objects on the trail.
Vibram Megagrip Outsole
Completing the Merrell Rogue Hiker GORE-TEX Walking Boot is a Vibram Megagrip outsole. The high-performance rubber compound is one of the grippiest on the market offering unparalleled sticky grip and optimal ground adaptability, allowing you to tackle tricky terrain easily whether the surface is wet or dry. The durable rubber offers rugged longevity providing unprecedented grip hike after hike and trail after trail. Traction is no problem, even with a 15-kilo backpack on your back, thanks to this Vibram Megagrip outsole offering ultimate traction even if conditions get a bit tricky and the terrain gets wet or slippery.
