Breathable Mesh Upper
The upper of the Puma evoSPEED Star 8 has been created with a lightweight and breathable mesh that encases each foot in complete comfort. The lightweight structure has peroration within the fabric to allow air to flow through it, creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. A seamless semi-knitted upper construction minimises irritation as this reduces possible friction points within the shoes and allows for barefoot usage. A flat suede tongue further reduces chafing for a comfortable next-to-skin feel. An internal heel counter provides a secure fit and reduces in-shoe slippage, keeping you distraction-free as you run with the PUMA Formstrip located on the lateral and medial sides increasing stability. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system that helps to lock the midfoot to prevent excessive movement.
CMEVA Foam Midsole
The midsole of the evoSPEED Star 8 has been created from a CMEVA foam that is responsive and lightweight. The midsole reacts to each step providing cushioning on impact. This cushioning is important on footstrike as it reduces the amount of shock that is felt resulting in better and longer-lasting performance. The midsole spares your joints as you sprint down onto a hard, unforgiving track. The midsole of the spikes has been finished with a die-cut EVA sockliner which has been cemented to the strobel board to allow for a cushioned fit with each step.
Evertrack Outsole
Completing the spikes is a full-length Evertrack rubber outsole. This has been utilised in high-wear areas for added durability and includes ridges to increase grip when on the track. The outsole also uses a curved and tapered last that brings the runner up onto their toes for maximum speed and propulsion. The spikes also feature a forefoot Pebax plate that uses six changeable spike pin receptacles that are strategically placed. The plate's stiff feel helps to propel you forward, so you can pick up the pace.
