Lightweight Mesh Upper

Surrounding the upper of the Vanish XC, the mesh is extremely lightweight which contributes to the shoe by keeping the overall weight down. The mesh itself is extremely breathable, and once you have started running, the warm air building up within the shoe is easily able to escape out of the shoe. This warm air is replaced by cooler air from outside, with the constant cycle keeping your feet feeling fresh and ventilated. The upper has thicker material covering the forefoot which will deflect any impacts, keeping you more protected from injury. Using Altra's Footshape, this will allow the feet and the toes to naturally splay in a wide toe box. By having more space, this will allow the foot to relax and spread out which will work to reduce over-pronation. It will also enhance stability and balance, allowing you to achieve a much more powerful toe-off motion. The Vanish XC doesn't have a traditional lacing system, which means that you can fasten to find a fit that is ideal for you. A flat-lying tongue will sit comfortably on the top of the foot, and the design will allow a wide range of flexion from the foot and ankle.

Max LT Midsole

Inside the midsole, Altra has used their technology Max LT. This performance midsole foam will help you seamlessly glide over every bump on the trail in comfort, whilst producing an energy return that will give you a supremely responsive feel. The foam at the bottom will absorb bumps instantly and effectively, preventing any sharp or sudden points of contact from reaching the sole of the foot. The foam will then return the energy as a rebound, which will mean that for the more energy that you put in, the bigger response you will get. The midsole has a zero-drop, which promotes a more natural gait cycle, allowing you to find a natural rhythm and foot strike. Despite offering supreme protection and response, the midsole is made to be lightweight, which will give you a free weightless feeling allowing you to push on along the trails faster than ever before.

Durable Rubber Outsole

The rubber outsole of the Vanish XC is extremely durable, able to stand up to a wide range of different terrains. This will improve the functionality and longevity of the shoes, as they won't wear down quickly no matter where you go with them. Additionally, the rubber is able to form a solid bond with a wide range of different surfaces, which will keep you firmly under control. Strategically placed rubber spikes on the outsole will further dig into the ground, particularly if it is wet or unstable, forming a solid base for you to push on from. This will mean that you will have more control when taking off, slowing down and changing direction.
