Altra Lone Peak 5 SE Trail Running Shoes
The Lone Peak: Born a legend. Now legendary. It's been a decade since the Lone Peak first summited the Wasatch Mountains and introduced Altra Running to the world. Now celebrating the brand's 10th anniversary, the legend returns with detailing, colorways, and throwback upper materials inspired by the original the trail icon. Like every Lone Peak 5, the Anniversary model features our Altra EGO™ midsole foam and a grippy MaxTrac™ outsole.
Mesh Upper
An update on previous versions, the mesh used on the upper part of the shoe is not only more breathable, but it has improved durability and security. The footshape toe box allows your toes to spread out more naturally, offering greater comfort and stability in uphill climbs and downhill descents. The upper has been trimmed down slightly, which has helped make the 5 lighter and more flexible than its predecessor. An updated stone guard is much lighter weight while offering the same level of protection. This has been done by effectively creating a pressure map of the foot on the stone guard and creating open perforations in the spots where there is very little pressure. This allows for less material to be used while offering protection in the necessary areas. The lacing has been simplified, which makes it easier to adjust for midfoot lockdown and a personalised fit. Heel loops make transporting muddy shoes indoors is quick and easy. The shoe is compatible with a gaiter, which can be attached via a hoop and loop tab allowing you to tackle sand, dirt, and debris head-on.
Altra EGO Midsole
The biggest update in the Lone Peak 5 is the introduction of the EGO in the midsole. While maintaining the same stack height of 25mm, Altra has been able to increase the cushioning and durability of the midsole. The midsole contains many areas with features that provide the shoe with extremely responsive rebound and cushioning, as well as the standard EVA that also protects and rebounds. The cushioning sits directly underneath the foot, which reduces ground impact, returning the energy as a spring for each step that you take. The feet sit on the midsole on a zero-drop platform. This means the heel and the forefoot are the same distance from the ground, encouraging proper low-impact form throughout your trail run.
Maxtrac Outsole
Staying in complete control is crucial on the trails. With the Maxtrac outsole, you can run with confidence. The durable rubber provides the perfect combination of grip and traction, making volatile surfaces incredibly easy to defeat. The Trailclaw lugs underneath are positioned strategically beneath the metatarsals, making toe-offs and sudden bursts count more.
