Engineered Mesh Upper
Engineered mesh uppers will encase each foot in breathable comfort. Lightweight and highly breathable for all-temperature comfort, the mesh acts as a lightweight second skin, providing a supportive and comfortable fit. Its perforated construction allows air to fully permeate the entire upper, letting your feet breathe when the temperature starts to rise or your training session heats up. As well as radical ventilation, the double-layer construction delivers a premium fit that improves flexibility and decreases irritation-causing wrinkles (because we know how rubbing and blisters can ruin your day) while maintaining its lightweight. An exoskeletal heel counter, secures the rearfoot, helping to anchor you to the midsole and reduce in-shoe slippage so that you can enjoy smooth, distraction-free strides. A lacing system increases midfoot support to ensure a dynamic fit for all-day comfort. Completing the Gel-Kayano 27 are reflective details which increase your visibility to passing vehicles during late night adventures.
FlyteFoam Midsole
The midsole of the Gel-Kayano 27 Running Shoes is made up of multiple compounds to bring you a cushioned and explosive ride from stepping out to stepping in. Flytefoam propel is the main cushioning compound used the Kayano because of its lightweight foam formulation and high energy return. Its lightweight foam construction reduces drag allowing you to run faster for longer whilst the elastomer creates high energy return for increase bounce and unrivalled toe-offs. A special formulation has also been used in the construction of propel to ensure unrivalled propulsion allowing you to get better performances out of every stride. Resilient and innovative, FlyteFoam Propel technology lets you run with the feeling that your feet aren't even touching the ground. Flytefoam Lyte has also been used within the midsole to to ensure unmatched shock absorption and a lively ride. FlyteFoam is the lightest cushioning material ASICS has ever made, 55% lighter than the industry standard, EVA and it buffers against the ground to protect you from unnecessary stress and fatigue. Its reinforced, organic fibres let the material bounce back to its original shape after every run, so you can train harder, more frequently, for longer without the worry your shoes might not be able to take it.
Embedded within the midsole platform, and complementing its bouncy nature, are the Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL Cushioning Systems. They work to reduce shock during the impact phase, sparing your joints as your sprint down onto hard, unforgiving concrete, and allowing for a smooth transition to mid-stance. ASICS contrast their cushioning with the Duomax Support System. Implemented on the medial side, it helps to control pronation and reduce the risk of injury, enhancing stability and support without sacrificing lightweight or comfort. Completing the midsole is an SpEVA Foam Lasting which resides underfoot to improve bounce-back characteristics and decrease midsole breakdown; the added cushion produces a soft feel and improved comfort for an even, uninterrupted ride plus, an EVA sockliner offers excellent rebound and cushioning for all-day comfort.
AHAR Outsole
Supreme grip and traction are guaranteed with the AHAR outsole. ASICS' high abrasion rubber is a tough rubber compound used at the heavy-contact or high wear areas which helps to cut down on excessive wear. The high abrasion outsole provides a strong grip and works to protect itself from damage, and protect users from losing control and slipping. Creating a strong bond with the ground beneath it, the outsole allows you to stay in full control at all times. Flex grooves also adorn the outsole to provide added traction underfoot, the grooves allow for natural foot flexion for easy, unhindered paces. An impact guidance system exists underfoot to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off. The guidance line exists to enhance gait efficiency while increasing the shoe's torsional rigidity to prevent it from twisting. Completing the outsole is a trusstic system which reduces the weight of the sole unit while retaining the structural integrity of the shoe.
