Engineered Mesh Upper
Optimising breathability and keeping the shoes lightweight, the Gel-Kayano 31 has an improved, engineered mesh upper using 50% recycled polyester. These lightweight materials supply feet with a constant supply of fresh air, allowing them to remain cool and feel fresh throughout your running sessions. Utilising strategic perforations, the shoes provide the feet with improved ventilation that surrounds them with a constant supply of fresh air, to prevent overheating during long runs. These materials provide next-to-skin comfort and reduce the need for additional overlays, to prevent irritation or chafing. Moisture-wicking properties keep feet dry by preventing the growth of sweat to help keep them fresher for longer. This updated upper has a modernised knit collar construction with luxurious step-in comfort and a comfortable experience. The collar design sits comfortably against your foot to prevent irritation or chafing from occurring, as well as, ensuring the shoes remain secure. This has been paired with an advanced pull tab for easy on-and-off access. The shoes have a traditional lace-up system, which keeps feet locked in and prevents in-shoe slipping from occurring. Completing the upper are reflective details which enhance visibility in low-light conditions.
FF Blast Plus Eco Midsole
Using one of ASICS' lightest and most energetic foam compounds, the Gel-Kayano 31 utilises an FF Blast Plus Eco midsole. Complemented with cloud-like softness and 24% bio content, the midsole has outstanding softness to contribute to cushioned strides and a comfortable running experience. This eco-conscious outsole provides your feet with a soft landing, and an excellent level of return to ensure energetic strides. Its reinforced, organic fibres let the material bounce back to its original shape after every run, so you can train harder, more frequently, for longer without the worry your shoes might not be able to take it. Working alongside this, the shoes have PureGEL technology in the rearfoot, which is lighter in weight and approximately 65% softer than conventional ASICS' GEL technology. This helps to deliver enhanced shock absorption and promotes smooth transition, to reduce injuries and keep you comfortable, stride after stride. The Gel-Kayano 31 uses ASICS' 4D Guidance System, which guides your foot through every step with adaptive on-demand stability. Instead of bracing your feet to restrict movement, the system works with your movements, providing you with stability when and where it's needed most. In addition to its other features, the shoes incorporate four dimensions of stability. These are; a wider platform for enhanced stability, length due to the full-length lateral midsole groove, depth that allows your foot to be cradled on the platform, and time due to the soft and bouncy medial piece. The midsection of the Gel-Kayano also utilises an Ortholite X-30 sockliner, which provides you with soft step-in comfort. All these dimensions work together to ensure that your foot spends less time in overpronation.
Hybrid ASICSGRIP Outsole
Utilising a combination of ASICS' ASICSGRIP and AHARPLUS materials in the right places, the outsoles of the Gel-Kayano 31s provide you with an excellent grip. Providing you with a soft grip underfoot, the shoes have a durable outsole. ASICS' High Abrasion Rubber is a tough rubber compound used in heavy-contact or high-wear areas helping to reduce excessive wear. The high abrasion outsole provides a strong grip and works to protect itself from damage and prevent you from losing control and slipping. This excellent compound provides you with grip and traction on a variety of surfaces and has been designed with strategically placed lugs, to enhance the grip further. The outsole enhances natural foot flexion for easy, unhindered paces, whilst the flex grooves work with the rubber outsole to provide an abundance of underfoot traction.
