Rhynoskin Upper
The Gel-Beyond 5 features Asics' RhynoSkin technology. RhynoSkin is an abrasion and tear resistant synthetic leather, which gives the upper exceptional durability and protection against the wear and tear of indoor court sports. The addition of strategically positioned open mesh panels in the upper allows for hot air to leave the shoe, and for fresh air to permeate the membrane and pass into the shoe to keep your feet cool, dry and comfortable whilst you play. RhynoSkin overlays provide structural support and tightly wrap the foot when the laces are tied to provide a secure, locked in fit, which helps you to move quickly across the court to make plays all game long.
Asics' Personalised Heel Fit (PHF) System is deployed around the heel collar. PHF features two layers of memory foam, which mould to the wearer's Achilles and heel to create a truly personalised fit for greater support and comfort. A removable EVA sockliner also features and adopts the wearer's foot shape to provide extra comfort and specific cushioning. The sockliner can be removed to accommodate a medical orthotic for greater support. Further stability is added by the California Slip Lasting, which gives the shoe greater comfort.
SpEVA/GEL Midsole
Asics have assigned the Gel-Beyond 5 with a bounty of midsole technologies to provide the wearer with exceptional stability and comfort. The new midsole is 1mm thicker than that of its predecessor, and consequently the Gel-Beyond 5 features more cushioning for a wonderfully smooth ride. A full-length SpEVA midsole provides bounce-back and cushioning to keep a spring in your step whilst playing, and give you continued energy return, even as you tire. Rearfoot and forefoot GEL units work in tandem with the SpEVA midsole to offer additional cushioning and shock absorption. The Silicone based GEL units are strategically placed close to the foot to provide targeted cushioning and enhanced performance. This results in greater comfort and reduced stress on the wearer's joints, and therefore a more comfortable ride. New SpEVA 55 lasting enhances the midsole's cushioning properties further to create a natural feeling whilst you play.
NC Rubber Outsole
In order to provide you with the purchase and traction required to make quick, agile movements on court, the Gel-Beyond 5 features some of Asics' finest outsole traction technologies. NC Rubber is deployed on the outsole, and thanks to its high natural rubber content it provides greater grip on indoor courts than other traditional outsole rubbers. Combine this with the researched tread pattern and you have an extremely high traction outsole. Asics High Abrasion Resistant (AHAR+) rubber is also employed on the Gel-Beyond 5's outsole. AHAR+ is an extremely durable, blown rubber compound which adds cushioning and longevity to the outsole, for enhanced performance over a longer period of time. Finally, the Trusstic System bolsters the shoe's structural integrity, and reduces the overall weight to create a lightweight, high traction, durable court shoe.
