Inov8 Shoe Fit Scale
For technical footwear, a good fit is essential to enhance your performance. Inov8's new Shoe Fit Scale makes it easier to find the perfect fitting shoe. All Inov8 shoes are designed with Met-Cradle technology to lock down the mid-foot for a stable hold, where they differ is in the toe box. The shoes are now graded from 1 to 5, Grade 1 representing their closest, most precise fit and Grade 5 representing the widest fitting toe box.
The lower the number on the scale, the narrower the fit, which ensures minimal internal movement of the foot when running fast on technical terrain. Shoes with the higher numbers on the scale will suit athletes with a wider foot and those wanting that extra comfort in the toe box. This wider toe box allows the toes to splay for increased stability when lifting heavy weights. It's also perfect for longer runs and races when toes begin to swell.
Inov8 have graded the Trailroc 285 Running Shoes as Grade 3.
Upper
Mesh uppers will encase each foot in durable comfort. Perforates in the fabric increase airflow; creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. TPU overlays wrap the midfoot to increase support and durability; serving as extra protection against wear and tear. A toe bumper reinforces the shoe's trail-worthy state; defending your feet against roots, rocks and other general hazards. The padded tongue and collar unite to supply next-to-skin comfort and an irritation-free fit, because we recognise how rubbing and blisters can ruin your day. An external heel counter cradles the heel without hindering the Achilles. It anchors the foot to the midsole, reducing in-shoe slippage for smooth, distraction-free strides. A mesh lining further supplements the TRAILROC's breathable nature, upping the airflow to keep your feet cool on hot, longer distance days. The medium fit of the shoe allows for comfortable toe splay, a good option for those with a slightly wider forefoot.
Midsole
Next generation PowerFlow+ resides in the midsole to supply plush underfoot cushion and comfort, letting you run effortlessly over any terrain. PowerFlow delivers 10% better shock absorption and 15% better energy return than standard midsoles; so your joints are spared as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces and the use of superfluous muscle power is reduced; diminishing fatigue and keeping you driven for longer.
Outsole
Effective, yet flexible, stone protection arrives in the form of the new 5th Gen Meta-Shank. Positioned between the outsole and the midsole, it is designed to align with the metatarsals, allowing the foot to move naturally whilst providing underfoot impact protection; so you can leap and land onto jagged ground without the worry of stone bruises. A TriC Sole completes the TRAILROC 285. This carefully considered combination of three rubber compounds means you get maximum durability and grip on all hard and rocky terrain, wet and dry. A truly unique sole design: it uses soft, sticky rubber on the toe and arch areas for improved grip, medium sticky rubber on the medial and lateral sides of the forefoot and heel to increase stability, plus hard rubber at the heel for an improved wear rate. The Meta-Flex, a deep groove in the forefoot, adorns the outsole to promote natural forefoot flexion; letting you run unhindered.
