Inov8 Trailroc 280 Trail Running Shoes
Featuring a graphene-enhanced rubber outsole, the Trailroc 280 delivers the worlds toughest grip over hard and rocky terrain. With increased protection both underfoot and around the toes, as well as added comfort and cushioning, this shoe offers the ultimate package for those running all distances over technical hard-packed terrain.
Breathable Mesh Upper
Mesh uppers will encase each foot in durable comfort. Perforates in the fabric increase airflow; creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. TPU overlays wrap the midfoot to increase support and durability; serving as extra protection against wear and tear. A toe bumper reinforces the shoe's trail-worthy state; defending your feet against roots, rocks and other general hazards. The padded tongue and collar unite to supply next-to-skin comfort and an irritation-free fit, because we recognise how rubbing and blisters can ruin your day. An external heel counter cradles the heel without hindering the Achilles. It anchors the foot to the midsole, reducing in-shoe slippage for smooth, distraction-free strides. A mesh lining further supplements the TRAILROC's breathable nature, upping the airflow to keep your feet cool on hot, longer distance days.
POWERFLOW+ Midsole
The midsole for the Inov8 Trailroc 280 Trail Running Shoes is set with a PowerFlow+ compound for resilient cushioning with maximum memory retention. The active compound reduces resistance and forces pressed upon the underfoot, engaging a smooth stride through transition and over uneven grounds and delivers increased shock absorption and energy return. Offering a cushioned ride, powerflow+ midsole provides 10% better shock absorption and 25% better energy return than standard midsoles allowing you to run harder for longer. The midsole also features an 8mm drop which further aids underfoot comfort and cushioning.
Graphene Grip Outsole
Utilising the world strongest material, these G-series shoes use graphene-enhanced rubber which is 50% stronger, 50% more elastic and 50% more hardwearing to create an all-around trail running shoe. The durable nature of the tough rubber provides peace of mind when running on uneven, rocky terrain whilst the added elastic provides multi-directional flexibility ideal for trail running. Additionally, effective, yet flexible, stone protection arrives in the form of the new 5th Gen Meta-Shank. Positioned between the outsole and the midsole, it is designed to align with the metatarsals, allowing the foot to move naturally whilst providing underfoot impact protection; so you can leap and land onto jagged ground without the worry of stone bruises. Completing the outsole are 4mm studs that which claw through mud and stick to wet, rocky terrain ensure traction on a wide range of surfaces.
Shoe Review
Having been heavily involved with the testing of Graphene in inov-8 shoes, I welcomed the introduction of the new TRAILROC G280 with open arms. I'm a fan of any shoe that promises to go the extra distance. Firstly, I loved the new colours and design - it's beautiful looking shoe. With an 8mm drop, it will either turn you on, or off, straight away, depending on personal preference. What will excite any trail runner, however, is that fact that this model is designed for all types and distances of trail running. With the introduction of graphene in the rubber sole, it's also a shoe that will last up to 50% longer than standard trail shoes. It's a proven result that I've seen after rigorously testing the Mudclaw G260 (I ran over 1100+ miles in mine), and one I'm currently experiencing with this particular model (now over 300 miles in).
They're also true to fit, a size 10 UK fits me perfectly. Weighing in at just 280g, the TRAILROC G260 is an outstanding all-round shoe, offering excellent grip, breathability and protection, making it the perfect choice for both training and racing.
KEY FEATURES
1. The breathability of the mesh at the front and top of the shoe, combined with ample protection around the entire edge of the foot and into the outsole.
2. In between the midsole and outsole is a rock plate which further protects the soles of your feet against any sharp rocks and stones. Recently I tested this shoe in the Italian Dolomites, the perfect environment for the TRAILROC G280. It makes running on all types of rocky terrain a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
