Breathable Mesh Upper
The upper of the Lycan is constructed from a technical mesh that encases each foot in breathable comfort. The mesh allows air to fully permeate the entire upper, providing a constant supply of fresh, cool air while simultaneously forcing out hot muggy air. The mesh also boasts reinforcements in abrasion-resistant microfibre technology to prevent roots, rocks and stones from getting into the shoes.
Additionally, the upper features a protective TPU toe cap that protects the front of the foot against trail hazards such as rocks and roots. The shoe offers a breathable, antiskid mesh lining that enhances ventilation and prevents in-shoe slipping from occurring when on unpredictable terrain. Lastly, the Lycan features a 4mm Ortholite Mountain Ergonomic footbed that is extremely breathable for a cooler foot. The unique open cell structure creates a moisture management system that wicks sweat and dries incredibly fast while offering long-term cushioning. The insole will retain over 95% of its thickness over time and won't flatten out. The footbed also features anti-microbial agents preventing the growth of odour-causing microbes, keeping your shoes smelling fresher for longer.
GORE-TEX Lining
The Lycan shoe is lined with GORE-TEX, meaning it offers durable waterproofing with outstanding breathability. The GORE-TEX causes water to remain outside the shoe, while perspiration molecules can escape the inside.
Shock Absorbing, Injected EVA Midsole
The Lycan from La Sportiva sports an injection moulded EVA midsole which differs from the standard compression moulded EVA midsoles for a high degree of cushioning and a better elasticity of the compound. These features assist the propulsion phase of the gait cycle, making these shoes ideal for use on off-road trails. Furthermore, EVA-injected midsoles drastically reduce the squash effect of the EVA over time, allowing the compound to maintain the same characteristics and high performance for its entire duration.
FriXion Outsole
The La Sportiva Lycan uses their unique FriXion compound which is the result of extensive R and D aimed at creating an outsole with parameters of grip and durability that respond to all types of use and terrain. The outsole is a soft, long-lasting compound with amazing grip, providing an all-around trustworthy and confident outsole.
