The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Shield gets updated to conquer wet routes. A water-repellent upper combines with an outsole that helps create grip on wet surfaces, letting you run in confidence despite the weather.

Water-Repellent Upper

Designed to be the perfect winter running buddy, the Pegasus 36 Shield has been constructed using shield technology which works incredibly hard to keep your feet dry and comfortable when running in wet conditions. The water-repellent upper works to shed light rain and snow to keep you warm and dry when the weather takes a turn for the worst. As well as this, engineered mesh uppers will encase each foot in seamless, breathable comfort. Perforations in the fabric increase airflow to the forefoot and arch creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. The improved slimmer design works to reduce bulk; swathing your foot in the same snug, sock-like comfort for a conforming fit that eliminates blisters without compromising speed and agility. A reduced tongue weight wraps around the foot for a streamlined fit, plus a heel collar that tapers away around the Achilles tendon for increased comfort and unrestricted natural movement. Sealed seams throughout the upper further aid water-resistance and prevent weather entry keeping your feet dry, allowing them to thrive in a perfect micro-climate. Traditional laces also feature on the upper and work to provide a locked-down fit. The laces lock down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides. Completing the upper is a reflective design integration which enhances your visibility during low-light conditions, keeping you safe and seen when running by the roads.

Zoom Air Midsole

A high-resiliency sockliner lies atop a feathery midsole as an extra layer of step-in, anatomical comfort and lightweight support. Premium Cushlon ST foam makes up the main midsole; this soft and springy platform of responsiveness helps to attenuate shock, sparing your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving surfaces. Embedded within the generous Cushlon platform, and complementing its reactive nature, is a full-length Zoom Air unit. This low-profile midsole feature combines pressurised air with internal fibres to deliver responsive cushioning that springs back fast, so you can move faster for longer.

Sticky Rubber Outsole

Sticky rubber covers the outsole of the Pegasus 36 Shield to ensure durable traction and grip. Ideal for winter weather the sticky rubber ensures multi-surface traction so you can have the confidence to perform on varied terrain. The durable and sticky rubber adapts to the ground beneath it to ensure traction and grip at all times. Waffle pistons also adorn the outsole to increase shock absorption while providing multi-surface traction. The lugs have been elongated for a more efficient roll off; they reduce the amount of time the foot is on the ground, yielding snappy responsiveness. A rubber crash rail on the lateral side of the outsole acts as a durable cushioning device at contact; segmented to enhance flexibility, it encourages an even transition from heel-strike through to toe-off. To improve grip, grooves have been cut from the crash rail; horizontal-facing, they produce a stable base with increased traction. Small cutouts across the outsole expose the midsole foam to create a type of flex groove, promoting natural foot flexion whilst reducing weight. The heel is bevelled to optimise the initial touchdown, promoting a smooth transition to midstance. Lastly, the grooves on the outsole quickly sheds water as you run on the soggy ground to ensure optimal traction at all times.
