Waterproof Upper
Designed to be the perfect winter running buddy, the Pegasus Turbo Shield has been constructed using shield technology which works incredibly hard to keep your feet dry and comfortable when running in wet conditions. The waterproof upper works to shed light rain and snow to keep you warm and dry when the weather takes a turn for the worst. As well as this, an inner mesh will encase each foot in streamlined comfort. Its perforated construction allows air to fully permeate the entire upper, letting your feet breathe when the temperature starts to rise or your training session heats up. A partial inner sleeve has also been used on the upper, it conforms to the shape of your foot for a fit ideal for racing and is designed to help you train faster for longer. This winterised version of the Pegasus Turbo 2 features a lacing system which locks down the midfoot so you can enjoy distraction-free strides. The lacing system is encased and a zipper on the shroud ensures an easy on/off whilst an adjustable hook-and-loop closure at the ankle for a secure, comfortable fit. Completing the upper is a reflective design integration which enhances your visibility during low-light conditions, keeping you safe and seen when running by the roads.
ZoomX Midsole
Revolutionary Nike ZoomX foam resides directly underfoot for heightened responsiveness. Previously only used in the Vaporfly 4%, Nike's fastest marathon shoe, this ultra-light and super-reactive midsole material delivers Nike's greatest energy-return yet, springing in at a magical 85%. It absorbs impact and then expels it back out for a bounce-like effect; this energy-return technology reduces the use of superfluous muscle power, diminishing fatigue and enhancing performance, keeping you going for longer. The revolutionary foam is manufactured from Pebax, a product conventionally used in plastic bridges and other moulded parts, and yields cushioning that is not only lightweight, but soft AND springy. Until now, these three characteristics (collectively) have proven nearly impossible to achieve. Pebax has a lower density than some thermoplastic alternatives and this makes it lighter, flexible and more impact-resistant, whilst giving it a higher capacity for energy-return. When blown into a foam these properties remain; thus gifting you with a lively underfoot feeling that encourages you to run fast. A distinctive, aerodynamic heel is designed to delay air separation and reduce drag, tapering to banish every barrier between you and your top speed.
Sticky Rubber Outsole
Sticky rubber covers the outsole of the Pegasus Turbo Shield to ensure durable traction and grip. Ideal for winter weather the sticky rubber ensures multi-surface traction so you can have the confidence to perform on varied terrain. The durable and sticky rubber adapts to the ground beneath it to ensure traction and grip at all times. As well as this, the outsole design has channels that quickly shed water as you run on the soggy ground to ensure optimal traction at all times. The rubber is placed on high wear areas such as the forefoot and heel to increase durability and resist the traumas of heel-strikes. The rubber has been removed in the midfoot to reduce weight, further enhancing the lighter-than-air feel of this shoe. Small waffle pistons also feature on the rubber outsole to ensure multi-surface traction; their size helps to reduce weight without compromising durability. The pistons resist the traumas of heel-strike and toe-off to provide you with a shoe that can charge you through training days AND race days. Completing the outsole is a bevelled heel which is angled to optimise the initial touchdown, promoting a smooth transition to midstance.
