Lightweight Mesh Upper

Designed to be lightweight, supportive and breathable, the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37 Shield Running Shoes have been constructed using mesh upper. The mesh upper has the look and speed and is made to help your foot while you run; the supportive nature of the upper swathes the foot without causing restriction so you can run with complete comfort. As well as this, mesh throughout the upper adds to the transparent look whilst also promoting ventilation. The perforations in the fabric increase airflow to the forefoot and arch creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. The increase in ventilation keeps you cool, dry and comfortable at all times. A light and breathable, 3/4-length weatherized shroud covers your laces. Inspired by performance outerwear, the shroud helps repels water to keep your foot dry. A DWR finish helps resist water. A midfoot band has also been used within the upper to ensure a comfortable and secure fit with every step. The midfoot band adapts to the size of your feet for a dynamic fit as you run. Completing the upper is a lacing system which locks down the midfoot to reduce in-shoe slippage so you can enjoy distraction-free strides.

React Midsole

A full-length platform of React cushioning resides underfoot to deliver feathery durability plus smooth responsiveness. To produce this startlingly lightweight and springy midsole, crafted from synthetic rubber, Nike listened to the voice of the athlete. Their in-house sports research lab plugged footstrike data into a proprietary algorithm that determined how much cushioning was needed where. They simulated testing on approximately one hundred possible shoe geometries to quickly determine the handful they knew would work best for most runners and then merged the science with an elegant design, intended to feel like a slipper on a mattress. The reactive nature of this clever midsole material means it absorbs impact and then expels it back out for a bounce-like effect. This energy-return technology reduces the use of superfluous muscle power, diminishing fatigue and enhancing performance, keeping you going for longer. Soft, generous and substantial, React will spare your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving concrete and infuse every stride with the kind of zealous power that is often elusive in the running world. Embedded within the generous React platform, and complementing its reactive nature, is a Zoom Air unit in the forefoot. This low-profile midsole feature combines pressurised air with internal fibres to deliver responsive cushioning that springs back fast, so you can move faster. Twice as big as previous versions, the unit delivers more bounce with every step. It's top-loaded to be closer to your foot for better responsiveness as you move through the gait cycle.

Storm-Tread Outsole

The Storm-Tread outsole provides traction in wet weather. It features textures inspired by all-winter tires. Micro grooves grab the road, while multidirectional shapes help shed water for direct contact with the pavement. The durable rubber provides a strong grip and works to protect itself from damage, and protect users from losing control and slipping. The rubber is placed on high wear areas such as the forefoot and heel to increase durability. The high abrasion rubber ensures durability and traction underfoot to supply reliable grip across every surface, resisting the traumas of foot-strike and toe-off to provide you with a long-lasting running buddy. Forefoot flex grooves have been added to the outsole to optimize to-offs; as you run the grooves allow the outsole to flex which allows you to achieve a better toe-off and increases your running efficiency.
