Nike Air Zoom Maxfly 2 Proto Running Spikes
Fit for the world's fastest, the Maxfly 2 is back in the starting blocks. Designed for the 100-metre to 400-metre (hurdle events too), it combines an ultra-aggressive feel with the responsiveness of an Air Zoom unit to propel the speediest sprinters on the planet. Updates to the base and upper from the previous iteration help optimise the Air Zoom unit's speed.
Flyweave Upper
Constructed using a Flyweave upper, the Maxfly 2 encases each foot in streamlined comfort. Zones of ventilation have been engineered into the upper and the perforations in the fabric increase airflow to create a better, healthier environment for your feet to win in, lightweight support wraps the foot in a firm fit, reducing in-shoe slippage so that you can enjoy smooth, distraction-free strides. The anatomical toe design follows the foot's natural contours enhancing propulsion by increasing space in the forefoot, allowing the toes to splay and push off the ground. Completing the upper is a traditional lacing system with notched laces meaning less chance of them untying mid-run.
Air Zoom Midsole
An Air Zoom unit at the forefoot of the Nike Maxfly 2 gives you a light, responsive bounce when your foot connects to the track. The two cushioned chambers within the air unit add even more stability and propulsion. A new full-length carbon fibre Flyplate also resides in the midsole. The plate is lighter and more responsive than the previous version and adds durability while the shape of the Flyplate gives you a propulsive feel for a greater toe-off and helps keep you on your toes to minimise deceleration.
Six Spike Outsole
Featuring a new outsole, the Maxfly 2 has gone from seven spike pins in favour of six removable spike pins, made of stainless steel, to deliver optimal biting traction. Removing the middle spike and elevating the platform by the big toe helps you feel more stable on the straights and around the bends so you can power through to the finish line. A sharkskin heel pad improves grip, for multi-surface traction, without sacrificing weight; resisting the traumas of heel strike to supply you with a reliable, fast and long-lasting race buddy.
