The Oboz Bridger Mid B-DRY
While the all-leather upper of the Bridger gives a nod to classic hikers of yore, there's nothing old-fashioned about these stats: a pliable, extra comfortable collar; a lightweight TPU forefoot plate that preserves the shoe's integrity; B-DRY waterproofing; metal hardware and a lightweight, aggressive outsole. As an added bonus the Bridger's leather goodness comes with practically no break-in time.
Upper - Durable, waterproof protection
Offering durable, evironemetnal protection the upper of the Oboz Bridger Mid B-DRY is crafted utilising a waterproof nubuck leather construction. This grants the boot a solid construction, that actively replels water thanks to a special treatment. The result prevents water from absorbing into the internal fibres of the leather and becoming over saturated, keeping your feet dry and comfortable should you find yourself in adverse conditions.
Working in concert with the waterproof leather design the Bridger also features Oboz B-DRY creating a complete watertight seal. The technology operates around three points of design:
- The Crux
This is Oboz proprietary tape-sealed polyurethane film bootie, which waterproofs shoes but still lets sweat escape.
All of Oboz B-DRY shoes come with hydrophobic upper materials, meaning the rest of the shoe won't absorb water.
The textile lining inside B-DRY boots wicks sweat away, so feet stay dry from the inside out.
For protection and added stability the upper integrates moulded heel and toe protection. The high rise curve of the toe cap offers great protection from rocks and other bumps and scuffs centred around the high wear area of the shoe. At the heel the moulded nature of the counter infuses added durability against collapse, maintaining a snug, comfortable heel hold through the miles.
For added step in comfort the Bridgate sports a unique, specifically designed insole: The anatomically designed insole maximizes stability and support internally, with a supportive arch and a deep cushioning heel cup. Triple-density EVA throughout provides both cushioning and durability, and a shot of urethane under the metatarsals and heels adds extra protection to high-strike zones.
Midsole - Stability, Terrain protection and Cushioning
Offering support and cushioning the Brigate features a dual density EVA midsole compound, which delivers a great balance between shock alleviation and underfoot support, without adding unnecessary weight.
For underfoot protection from the evolving environmental terrain the Brigate features a TPU chassis design protecting feet from stone bruising and sharp rocks while enhancing torsional stability underfoot. Since the chassis adds such substantial protection, Oboz can strategically drop rubber from the outsole underneath, making for lightweight shoes with heavyweight benefits.
For added torsional stability a nylon shank is also present, working in unison with the chassis to deliver a stable platform for the foot.
Outsole
Utilising an outsole of Oboz own design the Brigate features their Granite Peak design. The quintessential hiking outsole Granite Peak features a nylon shank for stability (mentioned above), toothy side lugs that hug off-camber trails, and 4mm directional lugs studding the sole.
The design is a great choice for a range of terrain delivering efficient traction, and a firm foundation for every stride.
