Sensifit Upper
A sensifit system works to cradle the foot, ensuring a precise and secure fit for the wearer whilst Endofit, an internal fit sleeve is designed to hug the foot in exactly the right places to improve feedback and foot wrapping. These two fitting systems work together to provide a perfect, secure and supportive fit. A quick dying single-layer mesh provides maximum breathability ensuring you feet remain cool, dry and comfortable at all times. The mesh is also super lightweight adding to the overall fit and feel of the sense 7. Completing the upper is a quick lacing system which offers a minimalistic and strong lace for one-pull tightening which makes it easy to get the shoes on and off. The laces also have a pocket which offers easy storage for the Quick Fit lacing System.
Dual-Density Compressed EVA Midsole
The Dual-Density Compressed EVA is a high-quality foam that's responsible for cushioning the foot throughout the running session. It's long lasting, so it won't break down easily and it's also responsive and springy. Additionally fitted with Die Cut EVA which provides excellent step-in cushioning for luxurious comfort. Completing the midsole is EnergyCell+, a high-rebound midsole compound that provides exceptional energy return while also delivering substantial cushioning and durability.
For rock protection when out on loose terrains, the S/LAB Sense 7 is equipped with Profeel Film in the forefoot to protect from rocks and other sharp objects. Premium Wet Traction Contagrip which is a durable rubber compound that covers the platform of the Salomon S/LAB Sense 7. This outsole will prevent the abrasive trails from causing damage to the underside of the shoe.
Shoe Review
In a similar fashion to the Speedcross, the Salomon S/Lab Sense range is tried and tested, with quality always guaranteed. Not only are they a fantastic looking shoe, they're also super-comfortable and super-lightweight (195g!). In comparison to the Speedcross, this shoe is more streamlined and stripped back, ideal for racing, particularly over the shorter distances.
In terms of sizing, I wear a 10.5 UK and this shoe is more suited to athletes with a thinner foot. Opt for the Speedcross if you have wider feet and if you're looking for more cushioning and protection.
Like all Salomon models, the Sense features the Quick Lace system (drawcord) and a lace pocket underneath the drawcord to store the cord safely away once it's been adjusted. If you're someone who dislikes a minimal fit, then this shoe really isn't for you. It's light, responsive and completely designed for hitting the trails at speed. At £159.99 RRP, they're an expensive purchase. But this top of the range trail shoe has been designed and tested by the very best athletes in the world, created specifically for ultimate race performance. If you want to go light and fast, then this is the perfect choice.
KEY FEATURES
1. What I really like about this shoe is the fit, which is unique in design because it has two fitting systems that work together collaboratively. First, there is the outer shell, made from a highly breathable mesh, with just enough protection where it's needed.
2. It's a highly ventilated quick-drying fabric, which I've tried and tested in wet conditions. Inside this is an internal layer, attached to the outer shell, which wraps around the foot like a glove, providing a more personalised and secure fit.
