S/LAB ULTRA is the fruit of a uniquely collaborative vision between renowned ultra-runner François d'Haene and Salomon. Redefining the limits of pinnacle product performance, it's the first shoe to keep performing after 10 to 15 hours of racing. A foam and plate combo carve out new territory for ultrarunning bringing previously unexplored sensations.
Matryx Upper
The upper of the S/LAB Ultra has been created with Salomon's own Matryx fabric, which is a new, high-performance fabric that is incredibly lightweight, abrasion-resistant, breathable and incredibly supportive. The mesh has been enhanced with Kevlar fibres to provide you with an abrasion-resistant finish so you can be sure that the shoes will last even when on tough terrain. The tight mesh prevents debris from being trapped between your foot and the footbed ensuring added comfort as you run. The shoe is easy to put on and take off with the minimalistic and strong Quicklace for one-pull tightening.
Energy Foam Midsole
Lightweight and responsive, the midsole of the S/LAB Ultra is constructed with Salomon's Energy Foam designed to deliver long-lasting cushioning and outstanding bouncy energy return. With highly durable Energy Foam in the midsole, the S/LAB Ultra has a soft feeling, with the right amount of cushioning and response. The midsole provides a cushioned feel that is responsive to your every step enabling a higher energy transfer; for reduced fatigue as you run. In between the midsole unit, Salomon has included a profeel plate. This has been created to provide your feet with protection from rocky terrain when out on the trail, keeping you feeling fresher mile after mile.
All Terrain Contagrip Outsole
Ensuring stability and protection on the trails, the outsole of the S/LAB Ultra Trail Running Shoes has been constructed using an All Terrain Contagrip. All Terrain Contagrip is built for maximum grip on loose, soft, rugged, and uneven surfaces. Using the most durable compound, it has a lug pattern that works equally well on both hard and smooth, or soft and loose surfaces. The full rubber outsole provides premium traction on loose terrain ensuring a solid bond between you and the ground. The Contagrip outsole is built for the widest variety of surfaces; it ensures confidence on wet, dry, hard or loose surfaces whilst still offering long-term durability so you can go further for longer with complete confidence in your footwear. All Terrain Contagrip uses deep, sharp lugs made from a compound that balances durability and adhesion. The multidirectional lugs dig deep into the ground when braking or changing direction. The deep lugs are able to anchor the foot into the wet and muddy ground, securing you into place whilst also forming a solid base to push off from.
